We are so happy to announce that Rocky earned his first and second 5 point majors and BOW (Best of Winners) under Judge Charles L. Olvis on January 12th and under Judge Ken J. Murray on January 13th at our supported entry in Brooksville, FL with the Pasco Kennel Club.
We are so happy that Howard Huber is Rocky’s handler.
The 2023 waterfowl hunting season brought opportunities for Rocky to retrieve ducks, geese, and pheasant. He has such a retrieving drive and will bring back bird after bird after bird – even when it takes until after dark to collect them all.
Our family mainly hunts in Minnesota, but this year brought the opportunity for Curt and Jake to travel to South Dakota twice, hunting both ducks and geese. We prefer duck meat, so thankfully we had lots of friends interested in taking some geese.
He was born for this life, and he clearly knows it.
Rocky had a fun photo shoot with Craig at Steady on Shot to celebrate his Master Hunter title. We had great afternoon light and Rocky really enjoyed performing for the camera. He had a lot of fun jumping and lunging time and time again.
Craig captured Rocky’s “Hard Charging Chessie” personality well, and Rocky loved performing for the camera.
The American Chesapeake Club hosted a field day at Fischer’s Kennels and Hunt Club in Albany, Minnesota in April, 2023. Rocky had just been back at training for a few weeks and had not yet run any type of hunt test.
The ACC field day is a fun time for Chesapeake Bay Retriever lovers in Minnesota to come together and practice mock hunt tests with their dogs. Rocky had a great time. This year, photographer Steven Oehlenschlager was on site and took some great photos of Rocky.

Puppies napping on the sofa are adorable, especially when they are twinning with the “big dog.”
He would sit like this watching his “big brother” chessie…waiting patiently until all of a sudden he would spring into action and start chasing the other chessie around the house.
